interesting to see where our national priorities are. education, pthhh. not so important.
i really enjoyed this (thanks pandora- postal service station) on this spring break-71 degree- biking to a wine bar- kind of day.
a fresh box of crayons. one of those childhood wonders that is still overwhelmingly present in later years. i don’t know what it is about untouched crayons, but it makes my heart beat extra fast. it also brings about other childhood emotion, such as greed. you just don’t want to share their pureness. those crayons are just for you. last night, at mr.dunn’s birthday, i opened a fresh box of crayola crayons, size 48. while it took a minute, i got over my sharing issues. finally.
amazing pride. this is honestly the best pie i’ve ever had in my life. emily, my awesome roommate, makes it. it requires meyer lemons, they are really sweet (like me). i mean, i know i’m not a food critic, but i think this pie is just incredible. you should compliment emily (that way maybe she’ll make more).
I thought I’d share with the cyber world the best birthday gift I got, a poem from one of my 9th grade girls. On shitty days in the classroom I need to remember this is why I keep going back. For those of you who don’t have the privilege of hearing me talk about everything school- she managed to include 5 words of the day, plus my nickname for my girls-lady love.
“Lady Love”
an original by: DSM
Good morning, Everybody- says the teacher
In charge of 3rd/4th period English Class,
She says, ok, flip to your Word of the Day
because we’re gonna have a blast.
She jumps cheerfully around the room sipping
her hazelnut coffee,
When she’s talking to us individually the
aroma reminds me of a toffee.
When we are looking kind of low- you tell us
What we need to know,
Even though we’re your students I can tell
you love us so.
I can tell sometimes we disappoint you, but
somehow you help to make us better,
I noticed that the days seem dreary when
you are under the weather.
You and Ms.Harris helped me to be able to open
up to people and say what I mean,
I mean you taught me the word Slovenly-
that’s the opposite of clean.
You scratch our back and encourage us
to do our best,
You always tell us to study so we can do
well on our test.
Sometimes I think you’re an angel sent
from above,
But I just stopped by to say I appreciate you and
Happy Birthday Lady Love!!!
From: your confident student whose also ambitious and amorous,
I hope you like this poem because I tried to make it glamorous

Welp. It’s approaching DCPS’s third snow day of the week. Add that on to the early release day on Friday, and you have one long ass weekend. I’m not one to complain about paid time off, but this is getting ridiculous. DC is the 2nd highest snow count? What about cities in Michigan? Washington? Maine?

this song is making paper-writing semi-bearable. instead of procrastinating at home, i decided to venture out to the new coffee shop in columbia heights (part of the new years resolution) and procrastinate here. just 6 months more of being a student. think i can do it?
